Oxy-coal combustion in a 30 kWth pressurized fluidized bed: Effect of combustion pressure on combustion performance, pollutant emissions and desulfurization

Abstract Oxy-coal combustion with pressurized fluidized beds has recently emerged as a promising carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology for coal-fired power plants. Although large number of energy efficiency analyses have shown that an increase in pressure can further the net plant efficiency, there are few experimental studies oxy-coal conducted on bed combustors/boilers continuous coal feeding. In this study, experiments lignite anthracite were 30 kWth combustor within range 0.1?MPa to 0.4?MPa. The investigation focused elucidation impacts performance, pollutant emissions desulfurization beds. results showed increased rate particles, promoting effect was more significant high rank smaller particle size O2 concentration atmosphere. For both coals, NOx decreased but N2O accounted considerable part nitrogen oxide pollutants under conditions. had insignificant impact SO2 enhanced direct limestone.
